La Petite Coquette

If there’s one thing that I believe in, it is that lingerie can boost a woman’s self esteem from a 0 to 100. A few weeks ago I was invited by Rebecca Apsan to stop her lingerie store La Petite Coquette, in New York city. To say I was excited is an understatement. Rebecca Aspan is New York’s #1 go to in regards to finding the perfect lingerie. Author of Lessons in Lingerie,  Rebecca helped me find the perfect bra.

La Petite Coquette has been around for 40 years and has attracted many big names. From Victoria’s Secret models, to actors (Sarah Jessica Parker, Brooke Shields, Kim Cattrall and many more) to directors. Aside from having celebrities as loyal customers, the lingerie icon has won Favorite Shop of the Year as well as the Personal Touch Award, both big accomplishments in the lingerie fashion industry.

My experience began with a tour of the shop. When you walk in the store, the first thing you notice is color. The store is filled with vibrant colors with a aesthetically pleasing neon light behind the counter. I automatically felt older than I am walking into the store.

My first stop, was the downstairs, which holds their office and (soon to be) changing rooms. The office consists of the companies mood boards for the next few months and samples of clothing that have either not yet been released or are restocked items. The soon to be changing area has that Blair Waldorf vibe that every girl dreams of having in her bedroom.

The first item Rebecca showed me was a novella slip by Addiction Lingerie. What made this piece so different from anything else you may have encountered is the quality of the material. I have never felt anything so soft. If you want to go for the simple sexy look, this is definitely a piece to invest in. In addition, it is travel size and comes in a variety of color. If you want to buy this piece, click here.

Next, Rebecca helped me find the perfect bra. She pulled aside about nine different sets for me to try on. Before coming to La Petite Coquette, I had always just bought my bras online. Now, I realize how important it is to try on a piece before purchasing it. A little tip I learned at my visit, to make your bra last longer, always clasp it on to its last hook. This way, when your bra stretches out with wash and wear, you can tighten the back band so that you can get the same support as you did initially.

I had an amazing experience at La Petite Coquette. I was able to learn how to find a bra that perfectly fits, what color works best for my complexion, and how to get the best use out of my bra. For any woman who is looking to spice up their wardrobe, I highly recommend checking out La Petite Coquette. They have the best selection in New York. Aside from their wide selection, the quality of their products will last your longer than any Victoria’s Secret bra or Oh La La Cherie. Shop my favorite pieces down below!

This blog post is in collaboration with Zaful.

Hi friends. I was searching through Pinterest for valentine’s day outfit ideas and I found some inspiration and thought it would be a good idea to do another one since February 14th is popping up sooner than we thought. Not that it’s that crazy of a holiday, but I love curating outfits to help if you are in a pickle decision-making wise. No matter who/how you are spending it with, I hope you spend time treasuring yourself too. Whether you’re single, sort-of-not-single, in a relationship, or many of the other options, know that you are precious and whoever you are spending it with is very lucky to have you in their life.

To achieve that natural winter glow, you want to start with the best possible canvas – natural yet completely neutral. This is where you’ll begin to sing the praises of this lightweight color-correcting face primer. After you’re done with skincare, apply a thin layer of the green primer to neutralize redness for an even skin tone or peach/more red tone to neutralize dullness for a brighter complexion. Then move on to your base (foundation, BB or CC cream or tinted moisturizer, etc.). If you’ve been blessed enough, primer can be enough for you! Quick tip: try using different color correctors for different areas, such as the green for ruddy cheeks or around the mouth, while peach/red tones are perfect for dark under-eye circles.

Once you’re satisfied with your base, it’s time to lay down the groundwork for that soft glow. Using a lightweight, sheer power on your face like this one, instantly adds a little shimmer and dimension to your skin. Think of it as a setting powder, when gently sweeping it across your face. It also helps to apply to you collarbones and the tops of your shoulder too, so that you’re glowing from all over and at all angles. The peachy shade brightens your face, while a subtle bronze warms things up and gives you that sun-kissed look. Quick tip: use the largest, fluffiest brush you have to apply the glow powder. You want to simply dust the powder over your skin.

While on your way to an ethereal glow, keep your face defined with well-groomed brows. This super-fine brow pencil with a retractable tip and spoolie on the other end is all you need. In a matte and smudge-proof formula with six available shades, choose whether you want your brows strong or natural, darker or lighter, then lock it all in with brow gel (clear or tinted if you want a little more oomph). Use the spoolie to shape the hairs and blend the pencil strokes for the most natural look. Quick tip: regardless of what kind of effect you go for with your brows, remember that your brows are sisters, not twins! In other words, brows do not have to be exactly alike nor perfectly symmetrical to look their best.

Eyebrow Pencil

You can never go wrong with an eyeshadow palette. Not only do you get coordinated shades that take the guesswork out of matching colors, but you also have so many beautiful combinations! This collection contains a blend-able baked formula in shimmer and glitter finishes for the glow factor, and a two-for-one function – apply the eyeshadow dry for buildable color or with a damp brush to bring out intense colors and effects. The colors are perfect neutrals to give you that earthy glow Quick tip: if you’re new to palettes, lighter colors are for highlighting (the brow bone and inner corners of the eye), dark shades are for drama and creating dimension (the outer corner and crease of eyelids) and the more medium shades are for the main part of your lid and blending.

Eyeshadow Palette

No glow/dewey look is complete without highlighter. But why just use one when you can have three? These versatile and highly blend-able shades have the right amount of radiance and, better yet, can be easily layered to stunning effect. Or how about wearing all three on the face in different places? I adore the pink-toned highlighter on the top of the cheekbones, the champagne one for the inner corner of the eyes, nose and Cupid’s bow, and the peach for the brow bone. Soft, gorgeous and the ultimate in multi-dimensional glow. Quick tip: the best brush for highlighting along the cheekbones is usually a fan brush, but the tapered brush is just as good and can also be used for the smaller areas such as the inner corner of the eyes.

Eyeshadow doesn’t get to have all the fun! Lip colors get in on the palette action with this wonderfully creative set of a dozen shades to mix, layer and customize to your heart’s content. With dynamic colors in semi-matte gloss and metallic finishes, it’s easy to achieve an abundance of looks. Holiday season is the perfect time to try out the two-toned lip, but there’s also a white and a black to simply lighten or darken any of the other colors. Quick tip: for plumper-looking lips, apply any color to the outer area of the lips and then fill in the center with a lighter shade and blend lightly with your finger or a brush.

Why should your makeup bag be relegated to inside your handbag or suitcase? Especially when it comes in a deliciously soft velvet like this. Keep your glow necessities close at hand and use the makeup bag as your going out clutch instead! Lined and easy to clean just in case those spills and accidents happen, the velvet bag with sturdy zip top is not too big and not too small for any occasion. Quick tip: as well as all the products to keep up your glow, make sure to tuck in a few cotton buds and ear swabs for any clean-ups on the go. And to avoid loading up on powder through the night, simply take a single ply of tissue and carefully blot the areas that you feel are getting a tad oily.
