It seems everyone this summer is traveling to Greece and spending their days under the mediterranean sun until their skin is golden brown. If you’re like me, you living vicariously through these people’s instagram and snapchat stories dreaming of the day you too will be sunbathing off the coast of Greece eating pomegranates and drinking fresh juice. One of my personal favorite islands to visit in Greece is Mykonos. This famous island is filled with Europeans, Australians, and Americans all in search of the perfect Instagram imagine and intimate encounters. With the most idyllic settings, it is difficult to take a bad photo. One of these most well known hotels to take these envious photos is Cavo Tagoo Mykonos.
My advice for staying here would be to book FAR in advance and save a little money booking one of the “classic Rooms.” The hotel is only 5-minute drive from town. There is a free shuttle that runs 24 hour a day between the hotel and town.
If you choose to stay here on your next trip to Greece, take advantage of the free breakfast buffet. The breakfast spread is out of this world – every fresh fruit you can imagine, delicious Greek yogurt, dozens and dozens of muffins and pastries, eggs and breakfast meats, there’s even a juice bar where they have freshly squeezed juice from exotic fruits. And the restaurant looks right out over the water with a truly breathtaking view.
The rooms are absolutely incredible with each having a breathtaking view. The sun beams off the plain white walls making you feel like you have gone to heaven. Step outside and you’ll have a view of the sea and the rest of the island that is yours to conquer. What is comforting about these rooms is that they are very simple and have a kind-of-ikea vibe (which will make you want to binge furniture shop once you get home). Whether you want to spend your nights in or hit the towns best clubs, the rooms are super cozy to stay in. You can spend the night in drinking wine and star gazing or it can become your haven from when you return from town after a night of dancing and drinking ozoo.
This hotel is also perfect for big travel groups. Overlooking the sea, you can choose to stay at their 5-bedroom villa options. This is perfect for families who want to travel in big groups. Whether you’re traveling with your big fat Greek family or having a bachelorette party or a friends trip, this option is best since it allows you to all be together.
This five star hotel includes a naturally lit basement pool, spa with steam bath, suanda and couples massage room and a decently equipped fitness centre for all you gym junkies. The hotel in addition has a bar, laundry and room service, restaurant, a steam room, and free Wi-Fi.
The on-site restaurant offers a Greek menu at lunchtime but becomes the Kiku Sushi Bar by night, very accomplished food with some walk-in trade but five-star pricey. The “full US” buffet breakfast (served at poolside) is generous and universally praised. But even for Mýkonos, pool-bar drinks starting at €12 are a bit stiff.
Good in the off season, less so otherwise. Double rooms from €180/£138 for a ‘Classic’ or €900/£688 per night for four people in a two-bedroom pool villa, during low season, rising respectively to €648/£496 and €2,880/£2204 in peak season. Complimentary upgrades tend to be offered when available which is such a plus.
Here are some inspiration pics that will make you want to book your next trip here!
